Because of this method, they usually don't go after larger prey unless a few other CloudWings help out. They dive down, picking up prey and carrying it off. However, sometimes they may think another dragon is one of them and end up startling an EnchantedWing or SharpWing who just happened to be flying by.ĬloudWings prefer hunting in the fog or on cloudy days. They enjoy flying through clouds and popping out to startle one another. First time parents often lose a few dragonets as the little ones like to sneak off to explore when their parents aren't watching and end up wandering too close to something dangerous.ĬloudWings are also very playful, even as adults. Some CloudWings may remain in their parents' flock their entire lives, but this is usually rare.ĬloudWings are extremely shy and skittish, but they are also very curious. Once a CloudWing feels they are ready or find themselves a mate after reaching adulthood, they will set off to join or create a new flock. The larger the flock, the more likely it is the little ones will survive. These flocks are normally family groups a mated pair and their offspring. Instead, they live in flocks and follow the oldest dragon. Unlike other dragons, CloudWings do not follow a queen, king or any other sort of tribe-wide ruler. It can take anywhere from six to nine months for a young CloudWing to learn how to fly, and it's usually around this time that they begin to grow their extra fluff. CloudWings usually only lay eggs every few years. CloudWings can lay anywhere between one to five eggs, however four is very rare and five even more so. Like all dragons, CloudWings begin their life in an egg that takes a year to hatch. It's very uncommon, but some CloudWings don't have much fluff on them. Some are even completely covered in fluff or feathers or lack any feathers at all. Some CloudWings have feathery legs instead of fluffy, or fluffy tail tips. The same goes for the extra fluff around their necks, underside, legs and wings, as well as their feathers. Some CloudWings don't even have these darker markings. The exact size and shape of the darker markings vary from dragon to dragon. The darker blue on Dreamer(pictured above) is as dark as they get, usually. Some CloudWings have more cloud-shaped wings.ĬloudWings are the smallest tribe in the world.ĬloudWings can be any color, however these colors are always pastel. Their wings are not actually feathered, just look that way. Their feathers can stick up when the dragon is angry, startled or afraid. Parents like to guess what their dragonet will look like judging from the colors of the patterns.ĬloudWings are actually covered in soft, velvety fur instead of scales. Their eggs have colorful cloudy patterns that match the color of the dragonet inside on a pale blue shell. They lack any magic or fire, but can breath a cloud of smoke that can put other creatures to sleep. They are usually quite agile and fast in the air, relying on clouds or fog to keep them hidden from others. Small, microscopic hooks on their wings allow them to fly silently. They prefer to live up in mountains or deep within dense forests. CloudWings, unlike other tribes, do not have a set ruler. The second fantribe for Pieris, the continent where the EnchantedWings live! This might be the only base I make like this tbh. I did use various different parts of other dragons to make this(legs of a HiveWing, tail and wings of a LeafWing, body of a RainWing). I forgot to add a couple details in the shading/lineart but overall this is what they look like. This took me like five or six hours to make and good lord am I glad it's done.
